Chelsea players celebrate goal against Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have invited promising Nigerian forward, Adewusi Habeeb, for a trial as the club continues to assess his potential for a possible future signing.

The young striker earned his opportunity at the Premier League side following a string of impressive performances at Brooke House College Football Academy, a development pathway that has previously produced players such as former Galatasaray forward Jesse Sekidika and ex-Rangers youth player Thompson Ishaka.

Prior to relocating to the United Kingdom for further football development, Habeeb established himself as the leading scorer in the Nigerian U19 Youth League (South Western Region), where he registered 18 goals while playing for Lagos-based academy Shuffle Select.

Known for his sharp footwork and strong physical presence inside the penalty area, the teenager also possesses a powerful strike and is comfortable finishing with either foot, making him a versatile attacking option.

Born in May 2009, Habeeb is required to reach adulthood before he can sign a professional contract with Crystal Palace, should he successfully impress during his trial period with the club’s youth setup.

The London-based club already has a number of players of Nigerian heritage in its academy system, including Mofe Jemide, Asher Agbinone, Chuks Okoli, Oladotun Lamidi and Jemiah Umolu.

One of the most notable Nigerian figures to emerge from the Crystal Palace system remains Victor Moses, who later went on to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and represent Nigeria at two FIFA World Cups.
