COVID-19: NYSC member donates allowance to Bauchi
Andara Daniel, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member from Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has donated his April allowance to Bauchi State Palliative Committee on COVID-19.
Daniel, who made the donation in Bauchi on Wednesday during COVID-19 update, said although the amount was meager, he made the donation out of sheer selflessness to his fatherland.
The young corps member, who got redeployed from Ondo State to Bauchi, said he wished the gesture would serve as a good example that would motivate people earning millions of naira from the government to do the same.
“When a situation like this confronts our nation, we corps members who have sworn to serve our nation selflessly and diligently see it as a responsibility or duty to put hands together with the government.
“We must join hands with the government in order to put an end to such a situation.
“I know what I’m donating is small and it cannot be used to fight the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
“However, it serves as a show of selflessness to my dear fatherland and it is also an example to those collecting hundreds of thousands and millions from the government to also do the same,” Daniel said.
He said that if other people could be inspired by the gesture, it would go a long way in fighting the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
“A wise man said, little by little an ocean is formed; if other people can see this act as an example and do the same, it will go a long way in fighting the scourge of COVID-19,” Daniel said.
Reacting, Gov. Bala Mohammad said he was impressed by the corps member’s selflessness and bravery, urging other citizens to emulate his act of patriotism.
