COVID-19: Nigeria records 26 new infections, discharges seven
The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded at least 26 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24-hours, taking the national toll to 164,233.
This was disclosed on the NCDC’s official Twitter handle in the early hours of Monday.
WuzupNigeria gathered that the country has not recorded a new death in the past eight days since the 11th of April, 2021 when the NCDC announced a single death in its daily report.
The health agency announced the discharge of seven new patients in the last 24 hours, taking the number of discharged persons to a total of 154,332.
The statement read, “On the 18th of April 2021, 26 new confirmed cases were recorded in Nigeria. Till date, 164233 cases have been confirmed, 154332 cases have been discharged and 2061 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“The 26 new cases are reported from 6 states- Ebonyi (10), Lagos (9), FCT (2), Kano (2), Osun (2), and Oyo (1).”
At the time of this report, WuzupNigeria can confirm the NCDC has tested a total of 1,838,174 samples since Nigeria recorded its index cases on February 27th 2020.
Meanwhile, a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities.
