Coronavirus: NRC suspends train services
The Nigerian Railway Corporation [NRC] on Saturday announced its decision to stop all passenger train services nationwide as a result of the spread of the coronavirus.
The suspension is not unconnected to the spread of the novel COVID-19 which increased from 12 to 22 in the country on Saturday.
The railway corporation in a statement signed by its Deputy Director, Public Relations, Yakub Mahmood, said,
“The board and management of the NRC have decided to stop all passenger train operations as from Monday, March 23, 2020.
“This is in view of the report of the already known coronavirus outbreak.
“Further information on passenger train services will be made available in due course to our esteemed passengers.”
FG also announced the closure of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos; and the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja effective Monday, March 23.
