A lady identified as Mrs. Nuella has commented suicide after losing her family money to a ponzi scheme, Chinmark, which crashed recently.
The PUNCH had reported weeks ago that the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Chinmark Group, Marksman Ijiomah, as well as influencers who promoted the ponzi scheme were called out on social media over unpaid funds invested in the company despite many deadlines given for a refund.
Recall that in December 2021, the Securities and Exchange Commission, disowned the investment group and warned the general public “that any person dealing with the within named Company in any capital market related business is doing so at his/her own risk.”
A number of investors had threatened suicide after they were unable to recover their money and the matter got spookier when Chinmark Group locked the comment sections of their social media pages, thereby making it hard for investors to air their views.
Nuella who reportedly invested millions of naira without her husband’s knowledge had made an attempt on her life but failed and was rescued. She was taken to a hospital for treatment afterwards.
However, the ponzi scheme’s victim was said to have finally succeeded in committing suicide, according to one Mr. Charles Awuzie, who has been soliciting and assisting Nuella and other victims.
In a post on his verified Facebook account on Monday night, Awuzie lamented the death of Nuella adding that “she couldn’t handle the disappointment.”
