Check out five top clubs who want to sign Arsenal’s midfielder on loan

Published

Reports in England have it that Arsenal is ready to offload midfielder Jack Wilshere on loan before the window closes on Wednesday. The midfielder broke into the scene in 2009 and dazzled fans and critics alike with his scintillating performances. This was especially evident in the match against Barcelona were a young Jack Wilshere more than held his own against superstars like Xavi and Iniesta.

It was believed that the midfielder would go on to greater things but a nasty series of injuries hampered his development and have made it impossible for the midfielder to grow into the player that boss Arsene Wenger and Arsenal fans in general were hoping for.

The acquisitions of Mohammed Elneny from Basel and Granit Xhaka from Borrusia Monchengladbach have also seen Wilshere’s possibilities of first team football even more limited in Arsenal.

Wilshere has played in two games so far for the gunners and both were off the bench. He appeared against Leicester in the 0-0 draw and again against Watford in the 3-1 win.

Since the news broke that Arsenal are keen to offload the England international on loan this season to regain his form and kick-start his career, a host of top clubs have been reported to be interested in the English midfielder.

Below are top five clubs rumoured to have shown interest to get Wilshere on loan:

-Besiktas:

It was reported in Turkey that the Turkish club are working on a loan move for Wilshere after they failed to price Samir Nasri away from Manchester City.

According to Turkish news outlet haberler.com, Besiktas will make a move for Wilshere instead.

It was gathered that Besiktas would provide the midfielder with more regular first-team football, and they are determined to land a central play maker in the next 48 hours.

-Roma:

According to Telegraph.co.uk, Roma are also interested in signing Jack Wilshere on loan for the rest of the season, but the hopes of the Italians rest on Arsenal subsidizing a portion of the midfielder’s wages.

Wilshere currently earns £90,000-a-week salary.

It is believed that the Italian club want to reunite the 24-year-old with his former Gunners team-mate Wojciech Szczesny, who spent last season on loan with the Serie A club and extended that agreement for a further 12 months this summer.

Former Tottenham Hotspur director of football Franco Baldini is working as a transfer consultant for Roma and was in England over the weekend.

Baldini already knows Wilshere from his time working as assistant to Fabio Capello, when he was manager of the England national team.

Arsenal would have no problem with Wilshere moving to Roma, where the slower pace and less physical style of football would be good for him but money may well be an issue.

-Southampton:

If Wenger is reluctant to allow Wilshere to join a rival for the top four in the Premier League, then Southampton could well prove a beneficial destination for him.

Arsenal have a positive relationship with the Saints, having negotiated moves for Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers over the last decade, and the south coast would certainly provide the competitiveness that Wilshere needs.

With Southampton currently winless in the Premier League, their midfield trio of Oriol Romeu, Steven Davis and Dusan Tadic will be freshened up by Wilshere’s arrival.

-Juventus:

Italian champions Juventus have been linked with Wilshere following the departure of Paul Pogba to Manchester United.  If the move goes through it would provide the 24-year-old with minutes at the very top level of the game with Juventus expected to go deep in the Champions League.

-Everton:

Former Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has so far proven to be a big success at Everton, having got the club off to their best start in 10 years, and while Everton could prove to be a possible destination for Wilshere, it’s difficult to see where he would settle in.

Koeman currently deploys Gareth Barry as the holding midfielder alongside summer signing Idrissa Gueye, with Ross Barkley in an advanced role ahead of them.

Wilshere would likely challenge Gueye for the box-to-box role, and with Mohamed Besic injured, Darren Gibson out of favour and James McCarthy heading for the exit, he would only rival Tom Cleverley as the other recognised midfielder with Tom Davies still largely untested.
