Published

Real Madrid is at risk of gualifying for the knockout stage after their 2-0 loss to Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday night.

The Spanish giants were hoping t o recover from their 2-1 defeat at home in the La Liga last weekend as a win against Shakhtar will take them top of Group B.
But despite having 59% ball possession, the away side were unable to record a go with at least eight shots on target as they fell to third position in the group.
The home side took the lead in the 57th minute after a goalless first half, through Brazillian midfielder, Dentinho.
Kovalenko drills a low ball into the box where Mendy intercepts, but the loose ball bounces square and back into the danger zone. It goes past Varane, who inexplicably leaves it, and Dentinho races in and fires past the onrushing Courtois!
With eight minutes to go Shakhtar  doubled the lead through Manor Solomon in the 82nd minute, causing more problems for the visitors.
The substitute drove forward purposefully down the left before cutting inside Vazquez as he reached the edge of the box and thumping a lovely strike beyond Courtois and into the bottom-left corner!
