Chadwick Boseman married longtime girlfriend Taylor Ledward before his death

Black Panther star, Chadwick Boseman had married longtime girlfriend Taylor Simone Ledward before he died of cancer on Friday.

Boseman and Ledward never publicly announced their marriage, but a statement posted to his social media accounts said that he died “with his wife and family by his side.”

Ledward, a jazz singer and 2014 Cal Poly Pomona alum who graduated with a degree in music industry studies, was first spotted with the “Black Panther” actor in 2015, People reported. Boseman gave her a shoutout at the 2019 NAACP Image Awards.

“Simone, you’re with me every day. I have to acknowledge you right now. Love you,” he said during an acceptance speech.

The couple reportedly got engaged in October 2019, as Ledward was spotted shortly afterwards wearing an engagement ring when they attended a basketball game.

Boseman kept his personal life very private. His cancer diagnosis was only revealed after his death, though he’d been fighting the disease since 2016.
