Lagos State Police Command has arrested a clergyman, Superintendent Evangelist Whepetoji Babaniyeh, in connection with the alleged disappearance of Ogubode Quadri Adedamola, a 28-year-old graduate of Political Science Education from Lagos State University.

Adedamola, who was the founder and CEO of Horlar Edu Consultancy, a business located on the LASU campus, was declared missing on January 16.

His last known communication was with his girlfriend, to whom he disclosed that he was in front of CCC Ilerioluwa Parish, LASU 2, and would call back later. That was the last time anyone heard from him.

Acting on this information, the police visited the church, but the Shepherd, Babaniyeh, denied having any knowledge of Adedamola’s whereabouts.

However, as the investigation progressed, police obtained the victim’s bank statement, which revealed a suspicious transfer of ₦1.5 million from his account on the day he disappeared.

Further scrutiny traced a portion of the funds to the Shepherd’s bank account, his daughter’s, and others.

Initially, Babaniyeh denied any involvement, but when confronted with concrete evidence, he claimed the money was a Thanksgiving offering.

His statement did not hold for long, as police later uncovered Adedamola’s body buried near the church premises, reportedly under the Shepherd’s supervision. A gun and an axe were also recovered at the scene.

Babaniyeh is currently in police custody as investigations continue into the disappearance

Authorities have assured that all culprits involved in the crime will face the full wrath of the law.
