Cardi B’s marriage about to crash, ‘files for divorce’ from husband, Offset
US rapper, Cardi B’s three-year-old married with her estranged husband, Offset, could be about to end after the rapper reportedly filed for divorce at a Georgia court earlier today.
Reports revealed that Cardi B, real name Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, started the divorce proceedings at a court in Georgia on Tuesday.
The document names Cardi B and rapper Kiari Kendrell Cephus in the divorce filings and the hearing is reportedly set for Nov 4, 2020.
According to TMZ, the rapper is currently separated from Offset and also wants legal custody of their 2-year-old daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus.
Although the couple’s secret wedding in 2017 came public in 2018, their marital issues started around the same year as hubby, Offset was accused of cheating.
In December 2018, Cardi B was said to have tried to call it quits on their romance before Offset begged his wife for a second chance.
He said at the time: “I only got one birthday wish and that’s to get my wife back Cardi. We’re going through a lot of things right now, a lot of things in the media. I want to apologize to you Cardi. I embarrassed you. I made you go crazy.”
He also apologised for “partaking in activity that [he] shouldn’t have been partaking in.”
Moved by her love for Offset, their love journey went back on track with the couple agreeing to give it another shot.
“I believe in forgiveness. I prayed on it. Me and my husband, we prayed on it. We had priests come to us. And we just came to an understanding like, bro, it’s really us against the world,” Cardi B said at the start of Janurary 2020 while speaking on her husband’s infidelity during a candid interview with Vogue.
