Car snatchers stab Uber driver to death in Abuja
An Uber driver identified as Akin Awojobi was reportedly stabbed to death by suspected car snatchers on Friday night around the National Mosque area in Abuja, the country’s capital.
The PUNCH reports that Awojobi died at the National Hospital in Abuja on Saturday as a result of the injuries he sustained.
As of the time of filing this report, the deceased’s colleagues could not confirm if he was on a trip or not but reports revealed that his car was left behind.
A colleague, Abiodun Friday said, “The pilot was stabbed multiple times. He was attacked around the National Mosque on Friday night. He was lying in a pool of blood. They tried to take his car away but they didn’t succeed. Motorists later rushed him to the National Hospital where he died on Saturday. His car is with the police.
“This is getting too much. Pilots are getting attacked every week. Last week, they robbed and stabbed one of us after the Wuye Bridge towards Wonderland near the city gate, they collected his phone. It was a Good Samaritan who drove and came out of his car with two of his brothers. The hoodlums ran away with his phone. We need security agencies to help us. It is not safe out there for us.”
The FCT command spokesperson, ASP Mariam Yusuf, when contacted said the police were investigating a case of a fatal motor accident.
She said, “On the contrary, we are investigating a case of a fatal motor accident.”
