The Corporate Affairs Commission has issued a warning to Nigerians, urging them to disregard any messages claiming to offer free registration of business names and companies.
The Nigerian Companies Registry issued this caution in a statement on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday making it clear that such messages did not originate from them.
The post reads, “Please, disregard any SMS or WhatsApp message asking you to enroll for free CAC registration, as it is not from us! Thank you”.
A widely circulated WhatsApp message has been encouraging Nigerians to apply for online CAC registration, promising benefits, and additional incentives.
