BUSTED! Housewife, dismissed prison officer arrested for snatching motorcycles in Minna
A former prison officer, Abdullahi Mohammed, and a housewife, Aisha Abubakar, were among four suspects arrested for allegedly snatching motorcycles in the Maitumbi area of Minna, Niger State.
The police stated that Abdulahi, 30; Aisha, 17, and their accomplices, Abubakar Mohammed, 30; and Nasiru Aliyu, 30, all from the PZ area in Minna ambushed their victims at Shakwata village and robbed them of their motorcycles.
Findings revealed that the suspects often deployed Aisha to pose as a commuter to Shakwata village where they dispossessed their victims.
Aisha said that Abubakar convinced her to be part of the robbery after which she was given N7,000 as her own share of the proceeds, the Punch reports.
“They usually made available N500 for me to take motorcycle from the PZ area to a nearby bush in Shakwata village where they are hiding and the moment I got there, they would rush out of the bush and rob the victim of his motorcycle. They may even kill him if he is unlucky.
“I am a housewife, my husband is in prison for a similar offence, that was why Abubakar Mohammed approached me to join them because it is the easiest way of making money,” the teenage housewife stated.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, said police operatives recovered three Bajaj motorcycles from the suspects, adding that the matter would be charged to court after investigations.
