Bus conveying travellers with guns arrested by June 12 protesters in Ondo

Some youths who had joined the June 12 protest in Ondo State reportedly apprehended an 18-seater commercial bus in Akure, the state capital, conveying locally made rifles.

The Toyota Hiace bus with registration number Gombe DKU 807 XA, was said to be traveling to Lagos from the northern part of the country when it was accosted at Ilesa-Akure Expressway at Road Block Area of Akure.

The bus was stopped on the expressway, and the youth conducted a search on it where two guns allegedly belonging to the passengers were found in the bus, according to a source, WUZUPNIGERIA gathered.

The source said, “The purpose of the guns in the vehicle could not be ascertained because the travellers could not convince the youths, who arrested them.”

The owners of the guns were thereafter handed over to the men of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun, for further investigation, the source concluded.

The commandant of Amotekun in the state, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, could not confirm the incident as of the time of filing this report when contacted.
