Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, and Colombian music superstar, Shakira, have shared a special moment as they prepare to perform at the maiden FIFA World Cup final halftime show.

Burna Boy shared a video on his X account on Friday, capturing the pair exchanging smiles and embracing during rehearsals for the highly anticipated event scheduled for Sunday at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States.

The singer captioned the post: “Sunday Prep! @shakira See you at the @FIFAWorldCup Final! Dai dai, ikó, dale, allez, let’s go!”

The footage, which also featured photographs from the rehearsal session, showed both artistes dressed casually while laughing together and sharing a warm hug outside the production trailers at the stadium.

FIFA had previously confirmed that Burna Boy and Shakira would perform “Dai Dai,” the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as part of the competition’s first-ever Super Bowl-style halftime show.

PUNCH Online had earlier reported that the halftime interval may extend beyond the usual 15 minutes to make room for the elaborate performance, with broadcasters preparing for a break lasting approximately 30 minutes.

The extended interval is expected to include the regular 15-minute analysis segment from pundits, alongside an 11-minute musical performance led by Burna Boy and Shakira.

FIFA also announced that the halftime spectacle would feature other major names, including co-headliners BTS, Madonna, Justin Bieber, conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus alongside Coldplay, as well as appearances from characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets.

The event is also projected to contribute to worldwide education programmes aimed at improving opportunities for children.

Sunday’s final will feature a clash between Spain and Argentina.

Burna Boy and Shakira had earlier performed “Dai Dai” at the tournament’s opening ceremony in Mexico City, where the track was officially introduced as the anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
