Although the Islamic terrorist group, Boko Haram, claimed responsibility for the abduction who taken to a hideout in Tsafe, Zamfara State, the Federal Government have refuted the claims, maintaining the crime was carried out by bandits.

Further reports revealed that the students regained freedom following the intervention of security personnel and the Miyetti Allah association.

Buhari has been billed to meet with the schoolboys who have now been taken to Katsina State since Friday morning, according to his Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, via a tweet.

Buhari’s visitation came amidst backlashes for his refusal to visit the school shortly after the abduction.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, at a press conference on Friday, defended the president’s decision.

When asked why the President failed to visit Kankara despite that he was in the state as of the time of the abduction, the minister said, “Yes, the president did not visit the town but he was busy coordinating the entire operation to ensure the safe return of the students within the fastest time possible.”
