Buhari reacts to death of Eze Enweremadu

President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the death of Abia State monarch, Eze Bernard Enweremadu, Eze Ukwu of Ngwa Ukwu, the traditional head of Ngwa land.

Buhari commiserated with the government and people of Abia State, as well as the Royal Family on the sad development.

A statement by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President, said that Buhari recognises and pays tribute to the immense contributions of the monarch to the development of his community during his reign of 44 years.

Buhari averred that Eze Enweremadu will be remembered for his vibrant leadership, wisdom and courage, as a leader who cared so much for his people, the unity and prosperity of his country.

The President prayed that the soul of the royal father rest in peace.

Eze Enweremadu, a foremost traditional ruler in Nigeria passed on at the age of 77 years.

His eldest son and former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Christopher Enweremadu said his father died on the 17th of January at the age of 77.

Enweremadu, who took over the throne at the age of 33, ruled for over 40 years.
