Buhari okays deployment of Ngige’s wife, eight permanent secretaries



The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Tuesday approved the deployment of Dr Evelyn, wife of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige and eight other federal permanent secretaries.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan, conveyed Buhari’s approval in a circular dated August 3, 2021 and titled ‘Deployment of permanent secretaries.’

While four of the deployed permanent secretaries were new appointees, the remaining five were old permanent secretaries redeployed to new duty posts.

The new permanent secretaries and their portfolios are Onwudiwe Ngozi as Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation; Ogunbiyi Olaniyi, Career Management Office; Yusuf Ibrahim, Common Service Office and Adebiyi Olufunso, Ministry of Women Affairs.

The old permanent secretaries redeployed to new ministries include Ngige from Staff Welfare Office of the HOCSF to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Development; Nasir Gwazo from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Development to the Ministry of Petroleum Resources; Bitrus Baku from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources to the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy; Mamman Mamuda from the Career Management Office of the HOCSF to the Ministry of Health; and Anthonia Ekpa from the Ministry of Women Affairs to the Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs.

“This deployment takes immediate effect and handing over and taking over process should be completed on or before Friday, August 6, 2021 except for Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health whose take over will be on August 13, 2021,” the circular added.
