Brighton school Man United as Liverpool fightback against Wolves

Brighton & Hove Albion inflicted a second consecutive Premier League defeat on Manchester United with a convincing 3-1 victory at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.

Former United striker Danny Welbeck opened the scoring in the 20th minute, before Pascal Grob doubled the lead eight minutes after the break. Substitute João Pedro added a third in the 71st minute to seal the victory for the Seagulls, with Hannibal Mejbri scoring a consolation goal for the hosts two minutes later.

The result leaves United 12th in the table on six points from five games, while Brighton move up to seventh with 10 points from the same number of matches.

In another development, Liverpool pulled a comeback to beat Wolves 3-1 with two late goals to secure a fourth consecutive victory.

Hwang Hee-chan gave the hosts an early lead, but Liverpool equalized through Cody Gakpo in the 55th minute. Andy Robertson then put the Reds ahead in the 85th minute, before Harvey Elliott added a third in stoppage time.

Wolves made a brisk start to the match and took the lead in the 7th minute through Hwang Hee-chan. The South Korean striker finished off a low cross from Pedro Neto.

Liverpool struggled to create chances in the first half, but they did come close to equalizing in the 45th minute when Salah’s shot was blocked by Jose Sa.

Klopp made a change at half-time, bringing on Luis Diaz for Alexis Mac Allister. The Colombian winger had an immediate impact, nodding off target from Robertson’s cross within 90 seconds of coming on.

Liverpool equalized in the 55th minute through Gakpo. The Dutch forward finished off a cross from Salah from close range.

The Reds then took the lead in the 85th minute through Robertson.

The Scottish left-back completed a long-range one-two with Salah before gliding into the box and slotting the ball under Sa.

Liverpool added a third goal in stoppage time through Elliott. The young midfielder’s shot from 20 yards out deflected off Bueno and into the net.

Liverpool have now won four Premier League matches in a row.
