Updated: Nigeria humble Cameroon in 5-goal thriller to reach AFCON 2019 quarter-finals
Nigeria humbled Cameroon yet again on Saturday in the Round of 16 of the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The Super Eagles beat the Indomitable Lions 3-2 as the two African football giants renewed their age-long rivalry at the Alexandria stadium as they battle for a spot in the quarter-finals.
Nigeria took the lead in the 19-minute with Odion Ighalo’s goal, but the Cameroonians fired back in the 41st and 44th minute courtesy of goals from Stephane Bahoken and Clinton N’Jie, to go into half time with 2-1.
Nigeria fought back as Ighalo scored his third goal of the tournament from close range to level the score at 2-2 in the 63rd minute.
Arsenal star Alex Iwobi scored his first AFCON goal in the 66th minute to make it 3-2 as the Super Eagles cruise into the quarter-finals.
