Brazilian forward Antony has been removed from the team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru due to allegations of assault, according to a statement from the Brazilian Football Confederation.

The allegations were made by Antony’s ex-girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin, and published by Brazilian media outlet UOL. Antony, who currently plays for Manchester United, has, however denied the allegations.

Antony has also addressed the issue on social media, stating that he has been cooperating with the police and maintains his innocence.

Since the beginning I have treated this matter with seriousness and respect, providing the necessary clarifications before the police authority,” Antony said on Instagram.
