The Benue State House of Assembly has issued a vote of confidence in Governor Hyacinth Alia amid the ongoing crisis within the state’s chapter of the All Progressives Congress.
The declaration came during the plenary session, coinciding with the presentation of the 2024 budget.
The representative for Mata state constituency, Simon Gabo, expressed immense satisfaction with the governor’s unprecedented performance, urging his colleagues to affirm their support. Gabo, impressed by Alia’s accomplishments in just over six months, moved a motion to pass a vote of confidence.
“The governor has been nicknamed Mr. 25th by the Benue people because of the prompt payment of salary and pensions and has embarked on huge infrastructural development without incurring any debt. Going by the extensive developmental strides of the Benue State government led by Gov Alia, I want to move that a vote of confidence be passed on the governor,” Gabo stated.
Peter Ipusu, the representative for Katsina-Ala state constituency, seconded the motion, commending the governor for his commitment to improving the lives of Benue residents. Ipusu also praised Speaker Aondona Dajoh for his effective leadership of the house.
With unanimous approval and the absence of any dissenting opinion, Speaker Dajoh officially ruled, solidifying the vote of confidence in Governor Hyacinth Alia amidst the internal challenges faced by the APC in the state.
