Barcelona eye loan move for Arsenal outcast Aubameyang

Published

Spanish giant, Barcelona are reportedly interested in a loan move for Arsenal striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

WuzupNigeria reported that the Gabonese star was axed as the captain of Arsenal following a disciplinary breach last week and has since been frozen from the first team.

The former Borussia Dortmund star has not been in Mikel Arteta’s squad for three consecutive matches, leaving the 32-year-old’s future at the club in doubt.

According to MailOnline, Barcelona are now weighing up a loan deal for Aubameyang and are keeping tabs on the striker’s situation at Arsenal.

The Catalans are said to be considering him as a possible replacement for Sergio Aguero who recently retired following a heart condition.

UK Metro reported that Barca would need to negotiate with Arsenal over Aubameyang’s £350,000-a-week salary due to their difficult financial situation.

Speaking on the possibility of selling Aubameyang, Arteta said last week: “All I can say right now is that we have made this decision that, unfortunately, is a really tough one.

“Obviously, if I had to choose I wouldn’t like to be sitting here and talking about this, but we had to do it.”

Should Barca fail to land Aubameyang, they could make a move for Manchester United star, Edinson Cavani whose contract expires at the end of this season.
