Spanish powerhouse, Real Madrid and Barcelona will not be in this season’s Copa Del Rey semifinals after their elimination by Athletico Bilbao.

Los Leones knocked out Barca in the Round of 16 before defeating Real Madrid 1-0 on Thursday night.

Bilbao’s victory over Carlo Ancelotti’s side fired them into the last four where they will face Valencia.

Meanwhile, Rayo Vallecano will slug it out against Real Betis in the second semifinal for a place in the final.

23-time winners, Bilbao and their manager, Marcelino García Toral will be facing a Valencia side he led to Copa del Rey glory in 2019.

Valencia have won the trophy 11 times while In-form Real Betis who beat Real Sociedad 4-0 on Thursday have won it twice.

Vallecano are the only Spanish side remaining in the semifinal that have never won the competition.

The first legs will take place on February 9-10 and return matches on March 2-3.

The final will be played on April 23 in Seville.
