Bandits block Kaduna road, abduct LG vice-chairman, scores
Bandits reportedly kidnapped an unspecified number of travellers including the Vice-Chairman of Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, James Bijimi, along the Kachia – Kaduna Road on Friday.
This is just coming less than 24 hours after bandits invaded Mother Cat junction in Kachia Local Government Area of the state, killing a driver and abducting 33 residents of the area.
The PUNCH reports that a source who did not want craved anonymity said Friday night the bandits blocked Gonar Rogo and Makyali areas of Kajuru and intercepted vehicles plying the road.
He said the bandits in the process abducted occupants of one of the vehicles who happened to be the current Vice Chairman of Jaba LG of the state, Mr. James Bijimi.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, confirmed the incident but did not mention the name of the occupants of the vehicles.
He said one of the travellers was injured during the attack and taken to an undisclosed hospital.
Jalige said, “Yes, there was an incident along the Kachia-Kaduna road. The road was blocked in the afternoon. Three vehicles were recovered from the scene and we are suspecting that the occupants of those vehicles were kidnapped.
“One person was injured and taken to the hospital. We are yet to ascertain the number of those kidnapped.”
