“I am so excited to perform at the NFL halftime show in London,” Ayra Starr said following the announcement.
The singer described London as one of her favourite places. She said taking her “Starrgirl” era to the NFL’s global audience was a dream come true.
The Eagles-Jaguars game is scheduled to begin at 2:30pm British Summer Time.
Ayra Starr’s performance will form part of a record seven halftime shows planned across the NFL’s 2026 International Games. This comes as the American football league expands its presence outside the United States.
The NFL said the international schedule will stretch across seven countries and four continents.
NFL senior director of global game presentation, music and entertainment Tim Tubito described Ayra Starr as a generational talent. He noted she had a strong connection to London audiences.
He also highlighted the growing influence of African music in the British capital. Additionally, he said it has been at the centre of the city’s music conversation for years.
Ayra Starr has recorded more than seven billion global streams since emerging in 2021. She has also earned two Grammy nominations alongside a BET Award for Best International Act.
Her NFL appearance comes shortly after the August 14 release of her third studio album, “Starrgirl.” The album features collaborations with artists including Wizkid, Rema, Zayn and Leon Thomas.
The full halftime performance will also be broadcast live in the United Kingdom on 5 and Sky Sports.
