The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Monday withdrew the lawsuit he filed to stop his impeachment by the Ondo State House of Assembly.

This followed the intervention of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress in the feud between Aiyedatiwa and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

Aiyedatiwa’s lawyer, Mr Ebun-olu Adegboruwa, confirmed the development in court on Monday.

Adegboruwa said the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, had set up a reconciliation committee on October 6 to mediate the dispute between the parties involved in the suit. He also said that proceeding with the court proceedings could frustrate the reconciliation efforts.

Counsel for the Ondo State Governor, Kazeem Gbadamosi, and that of the Chief Judge of Ondo State, Mutalib Ojo, opposed Adegboruwa and urged the court to proceed with the case. However, counsel for the Assembly, Femi Emodamori, said the Assembly had already withdrawn the petition against the judge.

Aiyedatiwa, in the suit, sought an order of interim injunction restraining Akeredolu, his servants, or privies from harassing, intimidating, embarrassing, and preventing him from carrying out the functions of his office as deputy governor of the state.
