Australian man falls to death from hot-air balloon
An unnamed Australian man flying a hot -air balloon on Monday morning has fallen to his death as he passed over suburban Melbourne.
The Balloon that took off from Melbourne’s northern suburb was in the air for about 30 minutes before the man fell from the basket.
His body was discovered in a residential area and the Victoria Police has sealed it off to traffic.
The Police said that a coroner report will be prepared and the death will not be treated as suspicious.
The National Commercial Hot -Air Ballooning Industry and the Australian Ballooning Federation expressed their condolences through a statement saying “ Hot-air balloon baskets are designed with safety in mind,specifically to prevent passengers from falling out accidentally or from accidental exit.”
They said the passengers and pilot are understandably traumatized by this tragedy and the operator is arranging psychological support and counseling for all the persons affected.
