The Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Austin Akobundu, has expressed confidence in the leadership capacity of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, saying he possesses the experience and knowledge needed to reposition Nigeria.

According to The Punch, Akobundu stated that the South East stands to benefit significantly if Atiku emerges victorious in the next presidential election.

The senator also expressed satisfaction with the level of support shown by party members and supporters, describing it as a reflection of the trust and confidence many Nigerians have in Atiku’s political vision.

He said the former vice president remains one of the most experienced politicians in the country, with a strong understanding of governance, national unity and economic management.

“Atiku remains one of the most experienced politicians in Nigeria, with deep knowledge of governance, national unity, and economic management, all qualities urgently needed to reposition the country,” Akobundu said.

According to him, Atiku understands the challenges confronting Nigeria and possesses the political wisdom and national outlook required to restore stability, growth and development across the federation.

Akobundu further argued that the South East would enjoy greater inclusion and opportunities under an Atiku administration, stressing that the region needs leadership that embraces equity, fairness and national integration.

He also recalled Atiku’s role during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, noting that he was part of the economic team that implemented reforms and contributed to economic growth.

The lawmaker said the large turnout recorded during the recently concluded ADC presidential primary demonstrated the confidence party members and supporters still have in Atiku’s chances ahead of the next election.

He maintained that the support witnessed during the exercise was an indication of growing optimism among those who believe the former vice president can provide the leadership needed to address the country’s challenges.
