ASUU extends strike by two months
The Academic Staff Union of Universities has extended its warning strike for another two months.
WuzupNigeria on February 14 reported that the union’s President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, declared a month-long warning strike after embarking on lengthy deliberations at the University of Lagos.
However, the strike extension was agreed upon after the union’s National Executive Council’s meeting held in Abuja on Sunday night.
According to Vanguard, the union will issue a public statement regarding the outcome of the meeting to the media soon.
Meanwhile, last month, a source revealed that the union’s agitation is in the interest of all as members “cannot watch and allow the total collapse of education in the country.
“We just want to give the government a long rope hoping that it would see the need to avoid a total paralysis of academic activities in the nation’s universities.”
