Aruna Quadri loses medal bid to world number one

The hope of Nigeria to clinch a medal from the men’s single table tennis event at the ongoing Rio 2016 Olympics through Aruna Quadri has been dashed.
The 28-year-old who is the first in Africa to ever qualify for an Olympics quarter-final in the men’s table tennis event was beaten by world no 1, Chinese table tennis player, Ma Long.

Quadri was an easy ride for Ma Long. The Chinese beat the Nigerian 4 – 0.
Nigerians who were hoping Quadri could perform a magic and unseat the world number one were banking on the fact that it was his birthday. It wasn’t to be.
All hope is not lost for a medal in men’s table tennis as team Nigeria will play China on Friday. Lets hope something good comes out of that.
