Arsenal thrash West Ham 6-0

Published

Bukayo Saka’s double and a goal from Declan Rice against his former club highlighted Arsenal’s dominant 6-0 victory over West Ham at the London Stadium.

Despite having suffered two defeats to The Hammers earlier in the season, Arsenal showcased their title aspirations with a commanding performance underlining their championship credentials.

The scoring spree began when William Saliba nodded in a header from Declan Rice’s corner just after the half-hour mark. Shortly after, Saka redeemed himself for earlier misses by converting a penalty with clinical precision in the 41st minute.

Mikel Arteta’s side extended their lead with Gabriel scoring a header from a set piece just two minutes later, sending thousands of West Ham supporters heading for the exits.

Leandro Trossard added to West Ham’s misery with a sublime curled effort in first-half stoppage time, making it 4-0.

The dominance continued into the second half as Saka notched his second goal with a low strike at the near post, marking his 100th goal contribution for Arsenal.

Declan Rice compounded West Ham’s woes with a stunning 25-yard curler, though he refrained from celebrating against his former team.

West Ham endured a thoroughly one-sided encounter, greeted by boos from the home crowd at the final whistle.

The result sees Arsenal maintain a perfect record in 2024 league matches, trailing leaders Liverpool by just two points and sitting behind second-placed Manchester City on goal difference. In contrast, West Ham’s winless streak extends to five league outings since the new year, leaving them in eighth place.

Up next, Arsenal will visit Burnley while West Ham will face Nottingham Forest.
