Anti-Igbo threat : We only want to help Biafrans – Arewa youths
The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum has said the three-months quit notice it gave Igbo residing in the North is meant to globalise the agitation of Biafrans.
It also wondered why there was an outrage over the order when the agitation for Biafra was over 50 years.
The group spoke through its Vice President, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, in Lagos on Monday at the 24th annual commemorative lecture of the June 12 Presidential election organised by the Oodua Peoples Congress.
He said, “We are a non-violent group and anybody can attest to this. We are also calling for restructuring. We were not part of Nigeria’s amalgamation in 1914 but we want to be part of its restructuring. Our rulers are all deceivers. We only want to help the Biafrans so that when the leaders see the situation they will know there is a need for restructuring. We called for it but they pretended as if they did not hear us.”
According to him, the quit notice should also be looked at from the aspect of landlord-tenant relationship.
“If a tenant keeps telling his landlord that he wants to go away. He repeats the request several times and the landlord decides to grant the request by issuing him quit notice, should anybody be angry?,” he added.
