Anambra man commits over wife’s refusal to make him next of kin [Graphic Photos]
A man has reportedly committed suicide after his wife refused to name him as her next of kin in a building document.
Before killing himself, the man, identified as Daniel Okafor of Nsugbe in Anambra state, was also alleged to have bathed his wife with acid.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, P Mohammed Haruna, in a statement on Wednesday, said the woman named their son next of kin instead.
“At about 03: am, on Wednesday, there was a report at 3-3 Police Station Onitsha that one Daniel Okafor of Nsugbe allegedly poured some chemical substance suspected to be acid on his wife, one Mrs Paulina Okafor ‘f’ of same address for refusing to make him next of kin,” the statement reads in part.
Following the report, Police detectives attached to 3-3 Division visited the scene and rushed the victim to Immaculate Heart Hospital Onitsha for treatment.
Consequently, the suspect who looked very sick and was equally rushed to Multi Care Hospital for medical attention. The doctor confirmed that the suspect seems to have drunk some quantities of the chemical he allegedly poured on his wife. He was later certified dead by a medical Doctor while receiving treatment and his corpse deposited at Apex mortuary for autopsy.
Meanwhile, the wife is responding to treatment and the case is under investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
