Embattled Nollywood actor, Omiyinka Olanrewaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has pleaded not guilty to the charges of sexual assault of a minor while appearing before the Special Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Ikeja on Thursday.

WuzupNigeria reported that the comedian previously pleaded not guilty when he appeared before the Yaba Magistrates’ Court on June 16 on charges of indecent treatment of a child, defilement of a child, sexual assault by penetration, attempted sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault.

Tribune reported that the actor who appeared before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo and pleaded not guilty to all the six counts of charges filed by the State Directorate of Public Prosecutions DPP led by the state counsel, Mrs Olayinka Adeyemi.

While the state requested that the defendant be remanded in a correctional facility pending commencement of trial, the defence counsel, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr Babatunde Ogala urged the court to grant Baba Ijesha bail application that had filed and served to the prosecuting team.

Arguing further, the state counsel noted that it is yet to verify the medical report which the defence relies on for his bail consideration just as the presiding judge granted the request of the defence team and asked parties to argue the bail application.
