ALLAH USED ME TO BREAK BARRIERS FOR MUSLIMS! Amasa Firdaus becomes a barrister seven months after she was not called to bar for wearing hijab
Amasa Firdaus, the University of Ilorin law graduate who was not called to bar for failing to remove her hijab has said that Allah used her to break barriers for Muslims whose rights have been violated for long.
Firdaus who is now a barrister said that she does not feel special but Allah personally used her as an instrument to give other Muslim hijab wearing lawyers victory.
Recall that the UniIlorin graduate was in December denied access into the hall for the ceremony, which took place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, for refusing to remove her hijab.
Firdaus had insisted that wearing the hijab does not contradict the dress code set by the law school while describing the action as “a violation of her rights”.
In June, the body of benchers responsible for calling law graduates to bar approved the use of hijab, and Firdaus was called to bar on Tuesday, June 10, 2018.
Speaking to TheCable, Firdaus said;
“I don’t feel any special.
“I feel grateful to my Lord. A Muslim will always be hopeful. It was not something I did myself. A lot of people were involved. I believe it is something that Allah has personally designed, I was just used as an instrument.
“A lot of people were in hijab. I feel grateful to Allah, it is not something I did. It is what Allah did Himself.
“I don’t feel any special. I just believe Allah decided to use me for it.”
Meanwhile, some Twitter users have congratulated Firdaus on her victory after seven months.
Many congratulated her persistent determination in standing for her belief over the news story that had sparked outrage and generated controversies in 2017.

Congratulations to Amasa Firdaus on your call to Bar. I was one of those that blasted her rebellion last December but now that the Body of Chambers has approved the use of hijab there’s a lesson to learn. We must challenge status quo passed down to us by the oyibos. She’s a hero

Please read the comments below the quoted tweet and note that Amasa Firdaus has now been called to the Bar WITH HER HIJAB! The comments are a cocktail of ignorance, bigotry, partisanship and intolerance. These are what has come to define our discourse in Nigeria. Painful. https://t.co/VZ4Y1sazQ6

So I’m at my CDS and we’re discussing Firdaus amasa. Only 2 of us are happy for her. Imagine. Everyone else is angry. Muslim/ Christians together. I’m in shock.
