Akwa United win first-ever NPFL title
Akwa United have won their first-ever Nigeria Professional Football League title in their 25-year history after thumping MFM FC 5-2 to clinch the 2020/21 crown.
The Uyo-based club won the trophy with an unbeaten run of 18 games, the longest in the league, as well as the most clean sheet this season.
Charles Atshimene capped a fine performance on Sunday with a hat-trick and improved his goal count to 18 this season, according to CHannels.
The Promise Keepers’ coach, Kennedy Boboye, clinches the trophy for the second time in his career after leading Plateau United to win their first league title in 2017.
