Ojo Joy Nene has secured Team Nigeria’s inaugural boxing gold medal at the ongoing 13th Africa Games in Ghana. The victory unfolded at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra when her Algerian opponent, Selmoun Chahira, failed to appear for their scheduled women’s 57kg bout, granting Nene a walkover.

With nine more Nigerian boxers set for the finals, hopes are high for further triumphs this Friday evening. The boxing contingent representing Nigeria at the 13th Africa Games has pledged to exert their utmost efforts to bring home gold medals for the country.
