Adamawa senator denies viral sex video, alleges political blackmail

Published

Senator Ishaku Abbo of Adamawa State has found himself at the center of controversy once again, following the circulation of a viral video allegedly depicting him in a compromising situation with a married woman.

The video, which emerged late last week, shows a light-skinned man engaged in sexual activity, and the name of Senator Abbo has been linked to the footage.

However, the identity of the man in the video has not been confirmed by any credible sources.

In response to the allegations, Senator Abbo held a press conference on Thursday evening, where he categorically denied being the man in the video.

“How can you identify a person without seeing his face, his body, only parts of his legs, and you said it is Senator Abbo,” he questioned during the briefing.

Abbo, who was removed from his Senate seat by an Appeal Court ruling earlier this year, accused his political opponents of orchestrating what he termed “timid blackmail” in an attempt to tarnish his reputation.

“Blackmail cannot stop me from winning elections. A senator from one of the northern states was shown in a sex video with his entire body, but he still won an election to the Senate, and his wife won an election to the House of Representatives. My people love me. No amount of blackmail can stop me,” he asserted.

The senator also indicated that he would pursue legal action against those he believes are responsible for spreading the video. He emphasized that while the scandal would not deter him, it was a futile attempt by his adversaries to damage his political career.

“Tarnishing my image will not help the political interest of those sponsoring the blackmail,” he warned, adding that his supporters would continue to back him due to his performance during his time in the Senate.

Senator Abbo’s involvement in this latest scandal comes just two years after he faced widespread criticism for assaulting a breastfeeding mother in a sex toy shop in Abuja. Despite the negative attention, Abbo remains confident in his political standing and insists that his record of service will see him through this latest challenge.
