The Adamawa Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers in the Mubi-South Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the arrest in a statement, adding that a 9-year-old boy named Mustapha Ibrahim was also rescued.

He explained that the father of the abducted child had earlier filed a complaint, stating that some unknown individuals came to his home under the pretense of wanting to purchase “zobo juice” and lured his 9-year-old son away on the 18th of October, 2023, at approximately 6:00 p.m.

The suspects reportedly demanded a N5 million ransom for the boy’s release.

The arrested suspects were identified as Abubakar Mohammed (23 years old), Auwal Usman (21 years old), Mohammed Abubakar (37 years old), Umar Mohammed (20 years old), Abdulhameed Musa (19 years old), and Muhammad Nasir (20 years old). All of them reside in Maiha Road and Kaba Ward in Mubi-South/North LGAs.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, commended the Divisional Police Officer of Mubi South and his team for rescuing the innocent child and preventing the criminals from escaping. He assured the public of the diligent prosecution of the suspects.

The boy is safe and the alleged kidnappers are in custody.
