Adeola, the daughter of veteran Nollywood actress Jumoke George, has finally returned to Nigeria after being trafficked to Mali.
The Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, confirmed the news on Monday, May 19, 2025.
Dabiri said the young lady had been missing for four years and was rescued with the help of the commission and other concerned individuals.
“Breaking! Adeola, daughter of popular actress Jumoke George, who cried out that she had not heard from her daughter in four years, is back home from Mali, where she was trafficked,” Dabiri wrote on social media.
Adeola was welcomed at the airport by Dabiri-Erewa, actress Abiola Adebayo, and actor Adeniyi Johnson. A photo shared online showed her hugging the NiDCOM boss in tears.
Jumoke George had earlier revealed her painful experience during a recent interview on the *TalkToB* show, hosted by Abiola Adebayo.
In tears, the actress said she kept her situation secret out of shame and fear of being mocked by the public.
“There are some things that are embarrassing to say, but at this point, I have no choice. I want to speak out,” she said.
“My first child, Adeola, has been missing. I’ve been looking for her for the past four years. Any small amount of money I got from work was spent looking for her.”
She explained that her daughter had been living with her grandmother in Ibadan before she suddenly disappeared.
“My mother just called me one day to say that she hadn’t seen Deola, who said she was coming to meet me in Lagos. I said I haven’t seen her,” she added.
Jumoke also mentioned that her daughter later called and asked for forgiveness. During the call, Adeola said she had travelled with some friends to find a better life but things did not go as planned.
Dabiri thanked actress Biola Adebayo for sharing Jumoke’s story, which helped raise public awareness. She also praised actor Niyi Johnson for supporting the family.
“Just received her, with Biola Adebayo, who broke the story, and Niyi Johnson. Details later!” Dabiri wrote.
NiDCOM has promised to continue working with other agencies to stop human trafficking and help victims return home safely.
