Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has clapped back at critics of her energetic, dance-focused marketing strategy, declaring that she is not hindering anyone’s progress.

In a series of posts on her Instagram story on Saturday, the record-breaking filmmaker addressed detractors, stating, “I’m not the one hindering your progress. Ka rin ka po, yiye nin ye ni.”

She emphasized that there is room for everyone to succeed. “If you can’t beat them or join them, create your own path. No allow jealousy burn you. The sky is so big for everybody to fly. Eyin Werey jojo!!!” Akindele wrote.

The actress urged her colleagues to develop their own promotional approaches. “Go ahead and create alternative promotion or marketing strategies for promoting your business, or hire a company to handle it. You can do it! The opportunities are endless, and everyone has their own path. I’m focused on mine, and I have faith in God’s plan for me,” she added.

Akindele currently holds the title of Nigeria’s highest-grossing filmmaker. Her recent movie, ‘Behind The Scenes’ (2025), has grossed over N2.4 billion and is still counting. She also holds the records for ‘Everybody Loves Jenifer’ (2024) with N1.88 billion and ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ (2023) with N1.41 billion.
