AC Milan appoint Stefano Pioli as new coach
AC Milan have appointed Stefano Pioli as new coach.
Pioli, who most recently coached Fiorentina, takes over after Marco Giampaolo was sacked Tuesday after four defeats in the first seven league games this season including a 2-0 derby loss to Inter.
The former 18-time Italian champions, who won their last Serie A title in 2011, are in 13th position just three points above the relegation zone.
Born in October 1965 in Parma, Stefano Pioli began his career as a coach in 1999.
His first coaching experience in Serie A was at Parma in 2006.
He then went on to coach several other Serie A Clubs: Chievo Verona, Palermo, Bologna, Lazio and Inter Milan, before moving to Fiorentina in 2017. Stefano Pioli now joins AC Milan on a two-year agreement.
