The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has officially confirmed the release of its kidnapped state party chairman, Mr. Philip Aivoji.
The Lagos State PDP Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Hakeem Amode disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday, expressing gratitude for the prayers and concerns of well-wishers.
“We use this opportunity to appreciate your prayers and to thank you all for your concerns and prayers,” Amode stated.
Aivoji was abducted last Thursday in the Ogere area of Ogun along the Ibadan-Lagos expressway.
The incident occurred as he was returning from the PDP South-West zonal meeting held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
While the abductors had initially demanded a ransom of N200 million and had contacted Aivoji’s family, Amode did not confirm whether any payment was made for his release.
