WHEN I GO ON STAGE! People think I want to play nursery rhymes, says nine-year-old saxophonist [Video]
A nine-year-old saxophonist, Temilayo Abodunrin, has said that people marvel at her saxophone skills and eventually pay more attention to her when she plays.
The nine-year-old saxophonist has certainly proven that the world is at her fingertips with her admirable instrumental skills.
In an interview with WuzupNaija, little Abodunrin said that she learnt how to play the saxophone at the age of six but had started playing the keyboard at the age four.
“When I get on stage and start playing my scales, they like my tunes and they start to record, which are some of the things that I like,” she said.
The young superstar further said that she makes money from some of her events but her dad manages that aspect for her because she doesn’t know how it works.
One would think that with her skills, her academics will not be given priority, however, contrary to that the nine-year-old studies from Monday to Friday, while the weekends are for the saxophone.
She also revealed that she has a band and currently working on recording her album later in the year.
The nine-year-old said;
“I am nine years old and I’m a saxophonist.
“I started playing the keyboard at the age of four but what made me go the saxophone was that I went to a concert and saw other people playing the saxophone…
“So I told my parents I wanted to play the saxophone and they said okay and got me a saxophone and I started playing at the age of six.
“When I’m about to play, people look at me and think I want to play nursery rhymes, like “Mary had a little lamb”…
“But when I get on stage and start playing my scales, they like my tunes and they start to record, which are some of the things that I like…
” When I start playing they pay more attention to me…
“People show love to me after I perform…
“I make money from events but I really don’t know how it works because my dad manages that for me because I have a full band.
“I study more from Mondays to Friday, while Saturday and Sunday are for the saxophone…
” I’m working on recording my album later in the year…
“It is impossible for my dad to stop me from playing the saxophone.”
