The Confederation of African Football has appointed two companies to manage free-to-air television broadcasting rights for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to The PUNCH, Media Experts Limited and Media Business Solutions (UK) Ltd secured the rights following a competitive tender process.
The agreement covers free-to-air broadcasting across sub-Saharan Africa, including Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa and Kenya.
The appointment was announced in London on October 19, 2026, ahead of preparations for the tournament.
CAF targets 500 million households
The companies will establish partnerships with broadcasters to make AFCON matches accessible across at least 40 African countries.
The proposed network aims to reach more than 500 million households.
Coverage will also extend to other CAF competitions, including youth tournaments, futsal and beach soccer championships.
Media Experts Limited Chief Executive Officer Kunle Falodun welcomed the partnership.
“Free-to-air television is where Africa watches its biggest moments together,” he said.
Falodun explained that the initiative would help more supporters watch African football without requiring paid television subscriptions.
AFCON 2027 to feature three host nations
The 2027 tournament will take place from June 19 to July 17 across Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
It will become the first edition of the competition jointly hosted by three countries.
CAF also disclosed that the tournament’s growing international audience had strengthened commercial interest in African football.
The governing body reported significant increases in global viewership during recent editions.
The appointed broadcasters will work with television stations and commercial partners to expand coverage.
CAF maintained that the agreement would improve accessibility and strengthen the tournament’s visibility across the continent.
