Editorial Policy

Last updated: 25 Oct 2026

Our readers trust us to tell them what is happening in Nigeria. These are the standards every WuzupNigeria story is held to.

Accuracy

We verify facts before we publish. Where a story is developing, we say so, and we update it as more information is confirmed. We clearly separate what is confirmed from what is alleged or reported elsewhere, and we credit other outlets when we follow up their reporting.

Fairness

People and organisations accused of wrongdoing in our stories are given a reasonable chance to respond, and their response is included when we receive it. We report court cases accurately and remember that a suspect is innocent until proven guilty.

Independence

Our editors decide what we cover. Advertisers, sponsors and political interests do not. Paid or sponsored content is always labelled as such.

Sources

We prefer named, on-the-record sources. We grant anonymity only when a source faces real risk, and we never reveal a source we have promised to protect.

Sensitive content

We do not publish graphic images of violence or of the dead for shock value. We take extra care when reporting on children, victims of sexual violence, suicide and mental health.

Corrections

When we make a mistake, we fix it promptly and transparently. Significant corrections are noted at the end of the article. To report an error, email [email protected] with the article link.

Use of AI

Our stories are written and edited by people. We may use software tools to help with research, transcription or spelling, but a WuzupNigeria journalist is responsible for every story we publish.
