Ikeja Electric has attributed the reduced hours of electricity supply across its network to a shortfall in power allocated from the national grid.
The electricity distribution company disclosed this in a public notice shared on its official X account on Monday, October 19, 2026.
The company explained that the electricity currently allocated to its network was insufficient to maintain the usual hours of supply to customers.

In the notice titled “Power Supply Constraints Due to Reduced Grid Allocation,” the company acknowledged the disruptions experienced by customers.
“We wish to inform customers across Ikeja Electric network that the reduced hours of electricity supply is due to a shortfall in the amount of power currently allocated to our network from the national grid,” the statement read.
The company apologised for the inconvenience and appealed to affected customers for patience while efforts continued to improve electricity availability.
It explained that the situation was beyond the amount of electricity currently available for distribution across its network.

The company disclosed that it was working with relevant stakeholders to address the shortfall and improve the volume of electricity supplied to customers.
It assured consumers that the available power would be distributed as efficiently and fairly as possible.
Ikeja Electric also pledged to provide regular updates as the situation develops.
Power disruptions affect Lagos customers
The announcement comes amid complaints about inconsistent electricity supply in parts of Lagos served by the distribution company.
The company had issued a similar notice on October 5, citing insufficient allocation from the national grid.
The recurring supply challenges have raised concerns among households and businesses that depend on electricity for their daily activities.
However, Ikeja Electric did not disclose the amount of electricity currently allocated to its network or provide a timeline for restoring normal supply hours.
The company maintained that it remained committed to improving electricity availability and keeping customers informed about further developments.
