Police place bounty on Kenyan man wanted over girlfriend’s murder

A man suspected of killing his girlfriend in Nairobi’s Kasarani area is being sought by authorities, as well-wishers have announced a combined reward of KSh 70,000 for information that could lead to his arrest.

The suspect, identified as Nelson Ambia of Sunton, is wanted in connection with the alleged killing of Feruz Hussein following a reported domestic dispute at his residence.

The incident was reported at Sunton Police Station in Kasarani Sub-County on September 30, 2026.

In the aftermath of the incident, Hussein’s family reportedly approached former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko for assistance in locating the suspect, amid growing concerns over their safety.

Sonko subsequently announced a KSh 50,000 reward for anyone who provides credible information leading to Ambia’s arrest.

“I am offering KSh 50,000 to anyone whose credible information leads to his arrest. If you know his whereabouts, report immediately to the nearest police station. Do not confront him,” Sonko said.

Another well-wisher, Mustapha Konvict, separately pledged KSh 20,000 towards efforts to locate the suspect, bringing the total reward to KSh 70,000.

The family’s distress has reportedly deepened following allegations that Ambia recorded the incident and sent the footage to Hussein’s relatives.

According to the family, the suspect has also threatened Hussein’s younger siblings, Shadia, 19, and Malik, 15, prompting fears for their safety.

Their father described the threats as an additional source of anguish for the family, alleging that the suspect had claimed to possess weapons and have people monitoring their movements.

“He said he will kill Feruz’s younger siblings noting that he has weapons to help him to do so and has men on the ground watching my family. He has also called my daughter Shadia to threaten her,” the grieving man said.

The family says the alleged threats have left them fearful and struggling to carry on with their normal activities as they worry about what could happen next.

Suspect Reportedly Spotted Outside Nairobi

Ambia is reportedly believed to have left Nairobi after the incident, with subsequent sightings placing him in Kakamega County. However, the reported sighting has not been independently confirmed.

Authorities are urging anyone with information that could help establish the suspect’s whereabouts to contact the nearest police station immediately.

Members of the public have also been cautioned against attempting to approach or confront the suspect, with police channels identified as the appropriate means of reporting information that could assist in his arrest.
