Telecommunications company MTN Nigeria has announced the restoration of network services following disruptions that affected millions of subscribers across several states. This announcement comes after the recent MTN Nigeria network outage impacted user connectivity nationwide.

According to The Guardian, the company confirmed that technical problems responsible for the outages had been resolved, allowing affected customers to reconnect.

The disruptions affected Lagos, Oyo, Rivers and Delta states, alongside the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Customers experienced difficulties making calls, accessing mobile data and completing digital financial transactions.

The network problems reportedly continued for about two days, disrupting communication and business activities.

MTN apologises to affected subscribers

In a notice issued at the weekend, MTN apologised for the inconvenience and acknowledged the importance of reliable connectivity.

“We know how important it is to stay in touch with people, businesses, and moments that matter most,” the company stated.

MTN explained that its engineers worked to identify and resolve the technical faults at affected locations.

The notice, signed by Chief Customer Relations and Experience Officer Ugonma Nwoye, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to improving service reliability.

The telecommunications provider also advised customers who continued experiencing connection problems to restart their devices.

“Still having issues? Please restart your device to reconnect,” the company said.

According to figures from the Nigerian Communications Commission, MTN had approximately 100.5 million subscribers as of July 2026.

The company assured customers that it would continue strengthening its infrastructure to reduce the likelihood of similar disruptions.

Although MTN announced restoration, individual subscribers may still experience difficulties depending on their locations and devices.
